So, yesterday was a pretty eventful day. We had a very good rehearsal at the garage yesterday and talked about some new ideas and upcoming tidbits for you all, so stay tuned for that. I was starting to feel very productive. After that, I hit the gym, and blasted out some calories, trying to make up for the meals I ate this weekend. Then, good friend and band-mate Bryan Villarin came over, because we had an appointment set for me to replace his exterior door handle on his Corolla S. After a little bit of tinkering, and some new Tools I didn’t have (Thanks Bryan!), I managed to get his new door handle on and working perfectly. Now he can roll in style and the ladies will no longer scathe their precious hands on his sharp door handle. You’re welcome, ladies. Feeling accomplished, my wife Aimee and I made some dinner for Bryan and ourselves, consisting of homemade spaghetti and meat-sauce, complete with all the fixins. This was all topped off with Vanilla bean ice cream topped with Flambéd pears and mangos. It was a delight, and if I could make a word to sum up the experience, I would say it was simply…”scrumtrelescent”.

Anyway, don’t forget whats really important out there, and be thankful for friends, food, and music. It is little things like these that make our lives more full and rich with new experiences. If you can, find some time, play some tunes, make some good food, or simply do finish a project that you have been putting off. You will undoubtedly feel better.

In TSP news, more shows to be posted soon, and we recently finished recording two of our newer songs, so stay tuned for news regarding those. That is all I have for today, so peace and chicken grease.

So,

Last night I decided to watch “The Taking of Pelham 123″ on our Netflix Player, and I have to say, this movie was pretty good. It was a hostage-scenario movie very similar in environment to “Phonebooth” with Collin Farrel.

Denzel Washington and John Travolta star in this movie, where Travolta’s character “Ryder” hijacks a New York City Subway train in hopes of getting paid $10 Million, and “Garber” (Denzel) is the subway dispatch assigned to that train line that day. The dialogue between Denzel and Travolta is pretty good, and you can really see their acting talents, even in this so-so film. Without these two, this movie surely would have fallen flat. One couldn’t have expected James Gandolfini (who plays the Mayor) to hold this one up all on his own…

Anyway, if you haven’t yet, and are bored on a Monday night, give this one a try. You may enjoy it.

We will be doing “The Taking of CKB” at our show at CKB in Pasadena this Friday, so come see some cool bands, get our EP ($5), Tshirt ($15), and stickers ($0) for your very own. We finally have something concrete to offer you all that you can take home with you and treasure for a very long time.

See you there! http://wp.me/poDC1-5b

Last night, Bryan and I met on Myrtle in Old Town Monrovia, a great place to take some photos. We walked around for about an hour, and Bryan shared some guru-wisdom with me on the art of photos. Being semi-new to the world of [DSLR] photography, I was like a sponge soaking up all of the knowledge that Bryan, the God of Photos, had to offer me. He gave me some great pointers, and showed me a few new tricks I didn’t know from my rudimentary knowledge of photography I learned in High School.

I am setting a new goal for myself to try to take as many pictures as possible and just get better at photography. To me it has always been just a hobby, but now that I have a better camera (a recently purchased Nikon D40x from our Drummer James) I feel that I can move a step up and start taking some legit photography.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and thanks Bryan for takin’ me under your wing.

Keeping with the movie references of my bandmates, I thought I’d post a couple of movies that I recently saw. As most of you know, I absolutely love seeing a good film, and sharing my thoughts about it.

The other day, I had a friend over and we watched “Zombieland” and “Michael Jackson’s: THIS IS IT”. Both were great movies. My friend made the joke that we were “having a night of Zombie Movies”…I know…tasteless, but it made me laugh.

Anyway, Zombieland was about our world in the not so distant future taken over by Zombies, and what would happen if we were the last few surviving humans. The cast was great, and of course Woody Harrelson was hilarious as always. This movie made me ponder on what it would be like if I were in their shoes, with nothing left but my guns and my car, struggling to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic setting with Woody Harrelson as my Zombie-killing partner. The entire movie, Woody was intent on finding himself a twinkie, because it reminded him of better times. The main message of this movie was “Enjoy the Little things”, which I try to do every day. I always appreciate a good comedy that has a deeper underlying message to it. I give this movie an A.

THIS IS IT! was a very motivational movie documenting Michael Jackson’s last moments at rehearsal for what was to be his final live performance. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the performance industry, because it really shows us what we are all striving to be. As much as I like to joke about MJ’s personal exploits, you really get to see how amazing of a musician he really is, and when I saw that, it made me want to strive to be that good of a performer/musician as well. There were a few times in the rehearsals where he could have pulled the usual Diva card and yelled someone out, but he always maintained his composure, and dealt with everyone he worked with as if they were family. This shows us that no matter how famous you are, you don’t have to be an asshole. I give this movie an A as well.

With that, I leave you with a new tasty tidbit in the world of The Scarlet Paradigm. We made it onto AbsolutePunk’s “Free Music Friday” series. Check out the link below, and you’ll see us there in the EP section.

Hey,

So here I sit at my computer desk at work, early in the morning, thinking to myself, “man I hope our band makes it and we could play full time”. Every band member’s dream, right?

Anyway, I am feeling in a good place right now, because things with The Scarlet Paradigm are all starting to fall into place and take direction. We had a great rehearsal yesterday, and ran through a couple of new songs (you can hear them at our 1/30 show) and they sound great! We released our EP to the Bandcamp Page last Tuesday, and we have a good bit of merch coming soon for everybody to get their hands on. Things are looking up. It is times like this that makes being in a band worth it, and getting to share it with great people at our shows is the icing on the cake for us. Thanks for all you do, and we’ll see you at the next show!

Also, if you’d like to stay updated on where we’re at in life, make sure to hit up and join our mailing list.

On that note, since I am feeling crazy at the moment, I leave you with this:
