Special Treat

Stoked about the show tonight! In honor of my stokedness I decided to share a song I’ve been working on. I’m not sure that its done yet, and I’m not sure whether it will ever be a The Scarlet Paradigm song or not. Whatever it is, you can download it directly from the following link for free! No strings attached! Maybe it will inspire you to draw something great, or do something better than before, or drop out of school, or go back to school, or build yourself a cake, or maybe even write a song of your own.

Enjoy…

P.S. Come out to our show tonight if you are free!

Crazy Horsed

Today we tracked drums in my dad’s garage aka (Crazy Horse Studios II). Named after Neil Young’s band in Ragged Glory. Good times were had, sticks were broken, and neighbors were disturbed! Thankfully, no complaints were filed. :)

Occupation

Flying through space @ thousands of miles per hour on a rock mostly covered with water is surprisingly dry and calm. What’s an ape to do with all the time he/she has on it? I have no clue. Ask 100 people this question, and you might get 100 different answers, and no single answer will be able to conclusively disprove, our outmatch all the others. There is however a strong value in society on the almighty money. Money can be traded for anything and is the medium by which many a man and many a dream have been deemed commendable, or condemnable by the others.  A common question one will hear amongst casual talk is, “What do you do?” We’ve been conditioned to answer this question with a boring story about what we do for money in other words where, and what we’re supposed to be doing at “work”.  The word occupation has been bastardized for the sake of uniformity and the glorification of the 9-5 machine that swallows men up and spits them out with nothing left 35-40 years later.

Over the last few years, I have been occupied with sounds; listening, creating, studying, mixing, analyzing, manipulating, and whatever else one can imagine doing with sounds. Sound has been my occupation. Sounds have kept me sane while driving me crazy. Sounds have put me in exactly the place where I want to be, which is nowhere at all. Sounds have made me feel like a god, and they’ve made me feel like a slug. Sounds have given me great joy, and driven me to deep depression all in one day. My occupation with sound has produced great metaphorical riches, and very little of what we call money.

With The Scarlet Paradigm I have had the chance to write, perform, and produce some sounds, which I think are pretty cool. Over the last year and a half or so with this band I’ve developed a tangible dream in which I can actually make my occupation (sound) be the same thing as my job, bypass the 9-5 machine, and have a kick-ass time on this rock we’re possibly stuck on.

I’m chasing my dreams in sound, and I’m very thankful to all my friends and family for the support. Perchance, one day the dream will support itself as well as my loved ones and I. Thanks for occupying your mind with my words :) !!!

Update from Bill

Salutations,

Two days ago we released our Album “You Don’t Need This…” through Bandcamp, which is a really fresh site for unsigned bands like ourselves. We recorded the entire album in my home studio and it took us months of tracking, mixing, listening, critiquing, and mastering to reach its final release-worthy state.

After some research into independent music marketing, we came to the conclusion that we ought to offer downloads of our album for free with the option of paying as opposed to trying to squeeze 3-5 dollars out of our friends and fans. This way people can download our music without worry of whether they will like it, cause it won’t cost them anything. Seriously, who would buy an album of a band they know absolutely nothing about? I for one wouldn’t, but I would definitely consider downloading an album for free and giving it a shot. I might even spin a few bucks at the band, because at this point, I am well aware of the countless hours and/or dollars in the studio it takes to put out a decent product.

Creating and listening to music is one of the most awesome things us humanoids do, and I am grateful that we could be a part of it. I am grateful that we can share our music with people all around the globe through the cyberspaces and whatnot. Thanks for reading, thanks for sharing, and thanks for listening…

Shenanigans

Salutations!

If you were there, thanks for making it to Kelly’s Pub this past Sunday. It was a fun show for us and we’re thankful to share it with you.

We currently don’t have any shows booked and we’ll probably keep it that way for a month or two.

In the meantime, we’ve been recording an EP to release to the world. It will be our “dirty word for a dirty world” (Anthony Burgess).

Expect 3-5 original tracks by early 2010. Best of all: it’ll be available in digital format through Bandcamp! (At the moment, we haven’t decided on a title for the project.)

*****

Did you know you can listen to our demo tracks in the sidebar? (If you’re in a news reader or email, head to our official website, TheScarletParadigm.com.)

We’re on Myspace (duh) and ReverbNation, too.

One more thing.

We need lots of street team folks (for artwork, photos, tickets, and posters) to help promote. Interested? Please contact us.

Thanks!
