First show on New Year’s Eve in Santa Monica

Don’t plan anything for New Year’s Eve!

By a stroke of luck, a photographer friend, Hal Bergman, is having a party at AltPixel Studio (2116 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica) and was looking for bands to play. I emailed him and he was totally cool with us to play a set.

We’ll play for about an hour. Get there at 8pm.

What else is going on? A nearby bonfire, bring-your-own-booze, barbecue (if you want to bring something to grill), a few other bands, a DJ, and an LCD projector to watch the ball drop on TV.

I’ll update this as I get more information. You can also view and RSVP to the Facebook invite.

Leave a comment if you can make it! We can’t wait…

Update 12/30/08: Hal updated the Facebook event page.

Celebrate New Year’s 2009 at AltPixel Studio!

As always, we’re going to have the fire pit going and a barbeque (bring your own goodies to grill), but this time, there is EVEN MORE STUFF!

The band lineup (subject to change) is:

8:30 – Big Tone (Rap)

10:15 – The Scarlet Paradigm (Prog Rock)

11:45 – Network Television! (not a band, actual network television with retired celebrities of your parent’s generation talking while Times Square counts down)

12:30 – The Bernard Herrmann Experience (Jam Band)

2:30 – TBA Punk Band

Scattered in between the band sets will be interludes by DJ Gentle Giles.

The short films of Tawd b. Dorenfeld will provide a cacophony of visuals, including original stop motion animation and skateboarding.

Richie will be parking The Box in front, to provide an open-ended interactive art piece. (Bring your paint and markers kids.) Richie will be offering SHARECUTS if you would like to provide your scalp as a canvas for an art piece of an entirely different type.

As always, liquor will be BYOB, but the liquor store (A.K.A. AltPixel’s walk-in beer fridge) in the front will be open until 2:00 AM.

This event is FREE, but it’s looking to be a lot bigger than expected, so any donations of anything (whether financial or in the form of stuff to burn or things to drink) and offers to help clean up afterwards will be especially appreciated.
